The West of Andalucía in 8 days

Day 1: Departure to Malaga - Matalascañas
Departure to and arrival at the airport of Sevilla. Welcome by our host and transfer to Matalascañas. The national park is situated in the province of Huelva. It is known for its wetlands, the most important ones in Europe. In this park you can find a wide spectrum of fauna and flora. Nature and bird lovers, but also hikers, come from all over the world to explore this precious piece of nature. Doñana is the last habitat of animals that are on the verge of extinction. You might see the Iberian lynx and the Spanish eagle. Later we have diner and your overnight stay in the hotel. 

  

Day 2: Matalascañas - Sevilla
Breakfast - Today we visit Sevilla; the capital of Andalucia and host city for the World Exhibition Expo in 2002. We visit the cathedral. It is the greatest one of all medieval and gotic cathedrals. Its famous bell tower 'La Giralda' is the historical symbol for the city. Afterwards we visit the royal palace 'Alcázar', which was originally a Morish place. The gardens are a mixture of Morish, Andalusian and Christian traditions. To end, we make a stroll through the picturesque borough of Santa Cruz en its narrow and cosy street. The Plaza de España, where all Spanish provinces are represented on mosaics, and the Plaza de América, known by the exhibition 'Hispano-American' in 1929. Free lunch and free time in the afternoon. In the evening we have dinner and the overnight stay in our next hotel.

  

Day 3: Sevilla - Cadiz - Sanlucar
Breakfast - Departure to Cadiz. Despite its situation on a small spit of land, Cadiz is a typical Andalusian city with lots of interesting spots and historical monuments. The older part of Cadiz, and its remainings of the townwall, are being called the Old Town. The street map contains lots of narrow, curving little streets, whilst the newer part of the city has wider lanes and more modern buildings. The city has also some parks with exotic plants with giants trees that have been imported by Columbus. We visit the museum of Las Cortes de Cadiz en San Fernando. Diner and overnight stay in hotel San Lucar (or similar).

  

Day 4: San Lucar - Arcos D.L. Frontera
Breakfast - We will have a day full of excursions. Our first stop will be Ubrique, a priceless little white town, known for its narrow streets and leatherware. Later on, we will visit Grazalema and the natural park, one of the towns on with the most splendid fauna. Further the town is also known for its wool production. Our third stop will be Del Bosque, followed by Arcos de la Frontera, considered as one of the most beautiful towns of Andalucia. At the end of our day we will return to our hotel in San Lucar, where diner and the overnight stay will take place.

  

Day 5: Arcos de la Frontera - Algeciras
Breakfast - Departure to Jerez de la Frontera, a city that gained world fame out of Sherry, horses and Flamenco. In the morning we visit a typical Andalousian wine cellar, where you will have the chance to try some Sherry. Afterwards we our expected on a horse show, given by the Royal Andalusian School of Ecuestrian Art. Free lunch. Later we continue towards Algeciras, where we will have diner and the overnight stay. 

  

Day 6: Algeciras - Ronda
Breakfast - Departure to Gibraltar, the last English colony in Europe. On a guided tour you will see the last monkeys living free in nature. U visit the famous cave of Saint-Michael. Afterwards there is some free time to talk and buy some tax free things in the mainstreet. Free lunch. In the afternoon we continue towards Ronda. Diner and overnight stay in the hotel.

  

Day 7: Ronda - Torremolinos
Breakfast - In the morning we leave for Ronda. The city that got split by the Guadalevin river with a rift of 100 meters; El Tajo. To cross the river, three impressive bridges got build; Puente Romanon, Puente Vieho and Puente Nuevo. The Puento Nuevo is the highest one of them all and rises up until 120 meters above the ravine. In Ronda we visit the church of Santa Maria la Mayor, a typical Andalusian house and the oldest arena of Spain. Free lunch. In the afternoon we continue towards Torremolinos. Diner and overnight stay in our next hotel.

  

Day 8: Torremolinos - Malaga - Home
Breakfast - Free morning, followed by your transfer to the airport of Malaga and your flight back home.
