Andalucía in 8 days

Day 1: Departure to Malaga/Sevilla
Departure to and arrival at Malaga airport. Welcome by our local host and transfer to the hotel in Malaga. Malaga, founded by the Phoenicians and situated under the everlasting sun. Malaga is also the hometown for Pablo Picasso. Malaga was the candidate city to be declared Cultural capital of Europe in 2016. In the afternoon we visit the harbor, with a wonderful view at the city center, the cathedral and the Moorish palace Alcazaba. Later we move on by bus to the upper part, called Gibralfaro. There we have a panoramic view over the whole city and the bull arena. Later on we make a stroll towards the Plaza de Merced, where the birth house of Pablo Picasso can be seen. We visit the Santiago church, the Roman theatre and the magnificent cathedral (entrance included). In the evening we dive into the warm and peaceful atmosphere of the famous 'Calle Larios', the main street of Malaga. Diner and overnight stay in hotel Tryp Malaga 4* (or similar).

 

Day 2: Malaga - Ronda - Sevilla
Breakfast - We continue our trip through the typical Andalusian landscape, joined by hundreds of olive, lemon and orange trees. Later on, we arrive in Ronda. With our local guide you'll bring a visit to the palace of Mondragon, the house of Don Bosco, the cathedral and the 150 meters rift 'El Tajo'. You will have some time to visit the oldest arena for bull fighting in Spain and the museum. Entrance to the cathedral and the palaces are included. Free lunch. Later we continue our trip to Sevilla. Diner and overnight stay at hotel Don Paco 3* (or similar) in Sevilla.

 

Day 3: Sevilla
Exploration of Sevilla, the capital of Andalucia and the center for art and music lovers. We visit the historical city center and its monuments like the borough Santa Cruz aside of the Alcazar palace, the cathedral (entrance included), the famous tower of Giralda and the Plaza de España. There we find a huge, half round building, that has been build for the world exhibition of 1929. We also bring a visit to the great amount of fountains, statues and tropical trees in the surrounding Parque de Maria Luisa. A parc that has been created in the 19th century on behalf of Frenchman Forestier. Entrance to the cathedral and the Alcazar are included. Free lunch. Later on you'll have free time to stroll around in the cosy little streets of Sevilla. You can make a boat trip as well (not included). Diner and overnight stay at hotel Don Paco 3* (or similar) in Sevilla.

 

Day 4: Sevilla - Cordoba
Breakfast - Free morning in Sevilla. Afterwards we continue our trip to Córdoba, with a stop in Carmona. It's a typical Andalusian white town, situated on a hill. There we will have a degustation of local products such as honey and olive oil. Arrival, dinner and overnight stay in hotel Tryp Los Gallos 3* (or similar) in Córdoba.

 

Day 5: Córdoba - Granada

Breakfast - Visit to Cordoba, one of the diamonds of Andalucia. Situated at the banks of the river Guadalquivir. De city's fame is a result of a unique combination of Jewish, Moorish and Christian influences. We visit the Mezquita, a mosque that has been build in the 8th century and that has been transformed to a cathedral later. Afterwards we go to the Jewish borough with its synagogue and the labyrinth of white, narrow streets. Visit to the synagogue and the mosk are included. Free lunch. Transfer to Granada. Diner and overnight stay in hotel Best Western 3* in Granada (or similar) 

 

Day 6: Granada - Almuñecar
Breakfast - Visit to Granada, the magnificent city with its most important and world famous monument; the Alhambra. Further, Granada cityscape is marked by the heights of the Sierra Nevada as well, covered in snow during winter. We visit the Alhambra (included), a medieval palace/fort, situated on the hills next to the gardens of Generalife, the second mansion of the sultans of Granada. Both monuments are remainings from the 781 years lasting Moorish domination. Free lunch. In the afternoon we make a stroll through the streets of a Moorish borough 'Albayzin', situated on the hills on the opposite of the Alhambra. There is some free time to discover the borough 'Alcaiceria' as well with your guide if you want to. There you can find the old bazar, the Royal chapel and the cathedral (entrance not included). Diner and overnight stay in hotel Helios 3* (or similar) in Almuñecar.


Day 7: Almuñecar - Alpujarras - Almuñecar
Breakfast - We visit the most important towns of Alpujarras, as there is for instance Trevelez, the highest situated town of Spain. You can try a real Serrano ham, pata negra and a local wine. In Pampaneira you will witness real handicraftsman at work. At noon we will have a typical local dish as lunch (included). Diner and overnight stay in hotel Helios 3* (or similar) in Almuñecar.

 

Day 8: Almuñecar - Malaga - Home
Breakfast - Free morning. Transfer to the airport of Malaga for your flight back home.
